Luncheon with Stephanie Mays
Stephanie is a Shareholder in Maynard Cooper’s Labor & Employment Practice. She has worked at the firm for the past 14 years and has experience defending public and private employers in litigation and federal agency proceedings and provides training, day-to-day legal advice and pragmatic solutions that are tailored to meet her clients’ needs. She also assists clients in drafting employment policies and conducting internal investigations. Stephanie is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America© for Litigation: Labor and Employment, and she was recently recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of Birmingham’s Top 40 under 40. She has also been included Benchmark Litigation’s “Under 40 Hot List,” an elite accolade honoring the achievements of the nation’s most accomplished legal partners who are 40 years old or younger. In addition, she has been listed in Super Lawyers every year since 2013. Stephanie also serves as Maynard’s Chief Talent Officer where she focuses on creating intentional and centralized programming around diversity and inclusion, recruitment, onboarding, training and development. She serves on the Character & Fitness and the Diversity and Inclusion in the Profession Committees for the Alabama State Bar. She serves on the Board of the YWCA, the Homewood City Schools Foundation, and the Legal Aid Society. She is married to Bernard Mays, Jr. (Controller at UAB) and they have two children: Savannah (age 8) and Sterling (age 3). Stephanie earned her B.A. from Birmingham Southern College and her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
