Luncheon with Harold Lewis
Rotary District 6860 Governor Harold Lewis has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Florence for over 26 years. Governor Harold retired as President of H.W. Lewis’ Hobart Sales & Service and currently is the owner and President of Ched, Inc., a consulting firm. Governor Harold continues to serve his community in many ways aligned with the Rotary 4-Way Test. This has included, presenting a vision for local Rotary which, through the work of fellow Rotarians has become the Rotary Shoals Scholar Dollars Program. This combined effort from the Rotary Clubs of Florence and Greater Shoals/Sheffield now offers the Free Rotary Scholarship – over the last 6 years it has provided college opportunities for over 2,000 students. PARCA has since acknowledged that this program is the reason Shoals now ranks as the number one metro in the state for the highest percent of high school seniors earning workforce ready credentials. Lewis also formed a group which has worked to research, and offer vision, plans, and strategies to address the decline of small civic clubs in America. This acknowledges that the decline has long reaching negative implications for the civic fabric of our society. Lewis has been the recipient of numerous awards over his career, including the “Torch Award for Market Place Ethics” as well as the Shoals Citizen of the Year award presented by the Shoals Chamber of Commerce.
