Service for our club spans the spectrum of one-off monthly service opportunities to year-long commitments as mentors and reading buddies. In addition to our monthly service projects, we participate in special projects throughout the year, such as our Back to School Supply Drive at Avondale Elementary and hosting college signing day for A.H. Parker High School graduating seniors. Monthly, we volunteer at St. Martin’s in the Pines assisted living center and play games (i.e., Wii bowling, dominos, rummikub) with the residents.

The following summarizes some of the non-profit organizations we partnered within 2019 for monthly service projects:

  • Birmingham Humane Society
  • Woodlawn Adopted Mile
  • Firehouse Ministries
  • Mercedes Marathon
  • Red Mountain Park
  • REV Birmingham
  • United Way
  • YWCA
  • Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • The Exceptional Foundation
  • ZypBike Cleanup

In 2019, our service team launched a challenging initiative, to execute our first international service project. After 9 months of planning, five of our members flewdown to the Bahamas to the home district of 2018-2019 Rotary International President Barry Rassin to meet, learn from, and work along-side Rotaract Clubs and Rotary Clubs. We continue to look for new ways to increase our global impact.
