Launched in 2019, the Board Fellows Program is one of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham’s most prestigious opportunities for members looking to deepen their civic involvement and grow as leaders. This year-long program places selected Rotaract members as non-voting, ex-officio board members on some of Birmingham’s most impactful nonprofit boards.
It’s more than just a seat at the table—it’s a front-row view into how major nonprofits operate, make decisions, and tackle real challenges. As a Board Fellow, you'll build relationships with community leaders, gain hands-on experience in nonprofit governance, and learn how to lead with purpose in any civic or professional setting.
Fellows also have the opportunity to participate in the annual grant writing competition to receive funds on behalf of their partner organization towards the end of the program year.
The program is designed to:
-
Cultivate leadership and board-readiness among Birmingham’s next generation of changemakers
-
Broaden your understanding of the city’s most pressing needs and how nonprofits address them
-
Expand your network through direct mentorship and board engagement
Applications open each October for the following calendar year. Whether you're looking to grow your influence, give back in a deeper way, or simply understand how to serve at a higher level—this program is your launchpad.
